WHAT IS A MINI SESSION?
Mini sessions aren’t just for families. They are great for kids, couples, for yourself… anyone!
A mini session is a fun-sized version of my full portrait sessions. Each time slot is for one (immediate) family. Should you wish to add additional family, cousins, etc., you will need to book and purchase two separate time slots (Certain restrictions apply).
We hope you can assist us in making your session fun and successful.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- ARRIVE EARLY. Please arrive 5 minutes before your session time. Mini sessions are time sensitive since we book them back-to-back with other clients. If you are late, that cuts into the time of your session. Your session begins at the time you book whether you are there or not (For example, if you are 5 minutes late for your 15 minute session, your session will only be 10 minutes).
- ARRIVE READY. Come dressed, hair fixed, face wiped, etc. and ready to shoot AT your scheduled time (Click here for some tips).
- AT ARRIVAL. I will likely be working with the client booked before you. Please keep space between other families as they are getting their photos taken so I can ensure I will have the full 15 minutes to work with each family.
TIPS TO PREPARE FOR YOUR MINI SESSION
This a fun, relaxing experience. Just remember, no single session is perfect, and it does not have to be! I will guide you along the way. Your job is to love on your family and just have fun!
I will only ask for your kids to look at me 1-2 times (once for the fast “traditional” shot, and once for an individual portrait”). The rest of the time I will suggest fun things (like go attack mom and dad, dance together, play, etc.).
WHAT TO WEAR
When deciding what to wear for your portrait session, the number one thing to consider is comfort! Make sure that your clothing feels good and makes YOU feel good wearing it. That confidence will come across in your photos.
- Please dress for the weather if your session is outdoors. Cold kids do not make happy kids.
- Find a colour palette that you love and wear outfits that compliment and coordinate, but don’t be overly “matchy” so that everyone will have a unique look without clashing in the photos.
- Avoid: Small stripes (This creates odd stripes and patterns to appear in your images, this is called a moiré effect), neon colours (It leaves a colour cast on faces and skin.), big logos or shirts with writing on them (We want the attention on you, not the brand or the saying on your shirt).
Suggestion
- Consider mixing textures, material, and accents of clothing. This helps create dimension and interest.
- We recommend that you start with one family member’s outfit, then coordinate the rest of the family
I hope this information will help you to prepare for your upcoming mini session and as always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have!
